Day in the life of a Landscape Apprentice

“I have found the different tasks I do day in day out and all the different components of the trade enjoyable. Some days I am paving, then planting, laying irrigation. Working hard with the team,seeing results and having a good chat at lunch is great fun.”

Landscape Apprentice Position Summary:

As a Landscape Construction Apprentice, you will work closely with our skilled team of professionals to learn and master various aspects of landscape construction. This comprehensive program will provide you with valuable on-the-job training and exposure to a diverse range of projects, from residential gardens to commercial outdoor spaces. You will play an integral role in the execution of landscape construction projects and contribute to our mission of creating sustainable, visually appealing, and functional landscapes.

Apprentice Key Responsibilities:

Hands-on Learning: Under the guidance of experienced landscapers, you will participate in various landscape construction activities, including excavation, paving, retaining wall installation, irrigation system setup, planting, and other related tasks.

Material Handling: Learn how to handle and transport landscape materials, tools, and equipment safely and efficiently, while adhering to industry best practices.

Site Preparation: Assist in site preparation activities such as site clearing, levelling, and soil conditioning to ensure a solid foundation for landscape installations.

Planting and Horticulture: Gain insights into plant selection, installation, and maintenance, as well as horticultural practices essential for sustainable and thriving landscapes.

Worksite Safety: Prioritise safety in all operations and adhere to company safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a secure work environment.

Team Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with the team to ensure seamless project execution, timely completion, and exceptional results.

Client Interaction: Develop excellent communication skills and professionalism when dealing with clients, ensuring their needs and expectations are met with the highest level of service.

Requirements:

Enrollment in Certificate III in Landscape Construction: The candidate must be enrolled or committed to studying for a Certificate III in Landscape Construction at Wollongbar Tafe NSW. This apprenticeship will provide hands-on practical experience to complement formal education.

Passion for Landscaping: A genuine interest and passion for landscaping and sustainable outdoor design are essential, as we seek individuals who share our vision for creating captivating landscapes.

Physical Fitness: Landscape construction can be physically demanding, requiring candidates to have the ability to perform various tasks that may involve lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.

Positive Attitude: We value team players who exhibit a positive attitude, eagerness to learn, and a strong work ethic.

Driver's Licence: A valid driver's licence is preferred, as some projects may require commuting to different locations.
